Chateaux de LastoursIn 1209, the Church launched an extraordinary crusade against heresy in southern France. What followed was brutal even by medieval standards. This course explores the background to this traumatic intervention and asks: ‘What was the perceived heresy?’ How real was the threat to orthodoxy?’ before considering what the episode achieved.
