Language in Everyday Life – Derby Day School – Summer 2018

communication-1991850_1920.jpgMost people use language expertly, with little conscious thought. How on earth do we do this? Awareness of the social, psychological and material basis of language can increase our enjoyment and understanding of it and make us still more effective. This day course will introduce you to topics such as the lexicon, conversation, politeness and language development, encouraging you to pose questions and explain your specific interests in language and its uses.
